Musicians need the right environment to grow and flourish, but no two flautists are the same. My approach is to discover the potential of every student and adapt my teaching to suit their style of learning. I am ambitious for my students and I pull out every stop to help them reach their goals. Mutual respect and mutual commitment are the keys to my approach.
As a seasoned performer, I am ideally placed to mentor talented musicians in the early stages of their career. Through working at Junior Trinity with exceptionally talented students, as well teaching on flute and orchestra courses throughout the UK, I have developed a good understanding of the complex challenges of working with gifted students.
Developing talent is about being persistent and finding new and different ways to communicate technical problems until students truly understand and can find their own solutions. It is about designing student-centred sessions which encourage deep learning and being creative with musical ideas. It is also about being able to listen, to empathise and to encourage self-belief.
I offer high quality individual tuition for all age groups and ability levels. For lesson enquiries please contact me here.
